On Thursday, April 6th we were pleased to celebrate the opening of our new headquarters and Center for Community with a special “Move that School Bus” welcoming ceremony.

During the ceremony, two Normandy school buses concealed the front of the new buildings until former Garfield Elementary student and Beyond Housing volunteer Jackie Buck-Horton shouted, “Move that bus!”  prompting the buses to pull apart, revealing Beyond Housing’s new home. The afternoon also featured remarks from Beyond Housing CEO Chris Krehmeyer, J.P. Morgan Managing Director Scott Bush, Past Beyond Housing Board Chair Richard Ryffel and current Beyond Housing Development Committee Chair Bob Cox.

Beyond Housing made a decision to rehab the former Garfield Elementary School as part of their 24:1 redevelopment plan in Pine Lawn, Missouri.  We’ve kept Garfield’s gymnasium and stage intact to serve as a place for both staff and the community to come together for use with meetings, recreational activities and community events.  The new annex will be a place for residents to connect with program staff and the many resources that Beyond Housing has to offer, such as financial literacy and health education.  This will be the first time Beyond Housing’s staff is all in one place, and a place that is more easily accessible to the 24:1 residents and our partners.

We would like to offer a special thanks to our friends at JP Morgan who helped make this event possible.
