Individual Development Accounts

Build Assets with a Beyond Housing IDA

Individual Development Accounts for Adults:

Beyond Housing administers many of the Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) available through the Greater St. Louis Asset-Building Collaborative sponsored by the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

An Individual Development Account (IDA) is a matched savings account. Every dollar you deposit into the account is matched through private and government funds. Depending on your income level, every dollar that you save is either matched with one or two dollars.

For example, if you qualify for the 2:1 match
You Save: $1,500.00
We Match: $3,000.00
Your Total Account: $4,500.00

Your matched funds can be used for:

  • First-Time Home Purchase
  • Permanent Home Improvements
  • Tuition and Related Costs for Higher Education
  • Establishment or Expansion of a Small Business

Qualification for an account is based on income.  You must have earned income to particpate in the IDA program.  Due to funding restrictions, you are not eligible to participate in the program if your only source(s) of income are Social Security retirement benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), disability or pension.
