Beyond Housing’s Homeownership Center is helping make the dream of homeownership a reality for families in the St. Louis area.

We assist current and prospective homeowners from throughout the St. Louis region in their efforts to acquire and maintain their homes. Our educational workshops, one-on-one personalized services, and other services are designed to help families and individuals build and maintain wealth through savings and equity in their homes.
 
Catch the Dream – Keep the Dream:  This unique homeownership program provides education and one-one-one counseling to prepare participants to make informed choices throughout the homebuying and homeownership. Catch the Dream includes:

  • A free orientation session
  • Private sessions with a homeownership counselor to review your finances and credit report
  • Homebuyers' workshops
  • Referrals to Beyond Housing partners, including professional lenders, real estate agents, home inspectors and property insurers.

We can help with down payment and closing cost assistance available to eligible families who purchase qualifying homes in jursidictions that are members of the St. Louis HOME Consortium and the City of St. Louis.  For information about the current availability of funds, please check the right side of this web page for Breaking News

Assets for Life:  We partner with the United Way and other nonprofits to offer Individual Development Accounts (a matched savings program) that encourage families to save for housing, business and educational goals.  Participants are required to attend financial fitness training workshops and they receive one-on-one credit and budget counseling. Matching funds are provided to help participants build wealth more quickly.

Homeownership Asset Preservation Initiative:  With foreclosure rates drastically on the rise, we provide a proactive approach and early intervention to reduce the risk of mortgage delinquencies and mitigate potential losses. Bridge to Homeownership: Beyond Housing administers HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher program allows Section 8 voucher holders to utilize their payment from the Housing Authority to make the dream of homeownership a reality.  Participants must first qualify through the St. Louis City Housing Authority. They then attend training and counseling and get prepared to purchase a home with Beyond Housing staff.  For more information, call the Housing Authority at (314) 531-4770.

I Can Save: (Click link for details) The I Can Save Program provides financial education and matched savings for students in the Delmar Harvard grade school in University City, MO.  The project ended in 2007.

Anyone interested in obtaining down-payment assistance from the St. Louis HOME Consortium must have at least $500.00 of their own funds invested in the transaction and must have completed the Home Buyer's Training (HBT) classes before closing.  Click here to see the income limits to be eligible for down-payment assistance from the St. Louis HOME Consortium and Neighborhood Stabilzation Programs (NSP).  Limits specific to NSP are listed at the bottom of the table.

Down-Payment Assistance Funds are currently available in the following jurisdictions of the consortium.

No other funds are currently available.  We will update this announcement as soon as aditional funds are released.

Note: The City of St. Louis is NOT a member of the consortium and there currently are no funds available in this jurisdiction.
