We work to make the dream of homeownership a reality for families in the St. Louis region.  The services of the Homeownership Centers in Missouri and Illinois are designed to help families and individuals build and maintain wealth through savings and equity in their homes. Beyond Housing’s Homeownership Center programs are successful because they combine the right mix of group educational workshops and one-on-one personalized services to effectively help families at different places on their road to becoming a homeowner and maintaining or preserving their home.

Catch the Dream – Keep the Dream:  Buying a home is the biggest financial investment many people will ever make.  In order to help homebuyers in the St. Louis region achieve the American dream of homeownership, Beyond Housing provides education and one-one-one counseling.  The services are designed to help you be better prepared to buy and maintain a home and provides information that allows homebuyers to make beneficial choices throughout the homebuying process.  Attend our free orientation session, meet with a homeownership counselor to review your finances and credit report, and attend our homebuyers' workshops.  You will also receive referrals to Beyond Housing partners including professional lenders, real estate agents, home inspectors and property insurers.  Down payment and closing cost assistance is also available to eligible families who purchase qualifying homes in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, unincorporated St. Charles County and the cities of St. Charles, Wentzville and O’Fallon in Missouri and most of St. Clair County in Illinois.  Beyond Housing operates two separate offices, one in Missouri and one in Illinois.
Homeownership Asset Preservation Initiative (Foreclosure Prevention):  With foreclosure rates drastically on the rise nationally and in the St. Louis region, Beyond Housing is responding by providing services for those currently at risk of losing their home through foreclosure. Our services are a proactive means of counteracting rising foreclosure rates and provide early intervention for mortgage delinquencies and loss mitigation.  Beyond Housing is partnering with the Homeownership Preservation Foundation to help families in crisis.  Visit their website at http://www.hpfonline.org/ or call (888) 995-HOPE for more information. Don't Borrow Trouble Metro St. Louis:  Not all mortgage lenders make loans that benefit their customer.  Beyond Housing provides education to members of neighborhood groups, churches and other civic organizations to help individuals avoid predatory loans.  We can also offer relief to individuals who may have been preyed upon and are now at risk.  To schedule a speaker for your group or for specific help for yourself or others, call the Don’t Borrow Trouble Hotline at (866) 299-2899.  Please visit http://dontborrowtroublestl.org for more information.

Healthy Home Repair:  Beyond Housing partners with the City of St. Louis Community Development Administration and the Catholic Charities Housing Resource Center to provide comprehensive homeownership services.  We provide technical assistance to implement the physical repairs and affordable home repair loans that address critical home repairs for existing homeowners in the City of St. Louis.  For more information and to start the process call (314) 241-5600 ext. 4.

Bridge to Homeownership:  HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher program allows Section 8 voucher holders to utilize their payment from the Housing Authority to purchase a home.  Beyond Housing is partnering with the St. Louis City Housing Authority to make the Dream of Homeownership a reality for Section 8 tenants.  Participants must first qualify through the Housing Authority, then attend training and counseling and get prepared to purchase a home with Beyond Housing staff.  For more information contact the St. Louis City Housing Authority at (314) 531-4770.

Assets for Life:  Beyond Housing is the lead organization, partnering with the United Way and other non-profits in providing Individual Development Accounts (or a matched saving program) that encourages the purchase of assets that will better the families housing and educational situations.  The program includes a combination of financial fitness training workshops, one-on-one credit and budget counseling and funds that match the participant’s own savings.

Beyond Housing has managed the I Can Save Program that provided financial education and matched savings for students in the Delmar Harvard grade school in University City, Missouri.  74 participants in the program, which closed at the end of 2007, have saved more than $100,000.00 for college eduction expenses.  In Missouri, for more information about saving for post secondary education, please visit  www.missourimost.org for MOST-Missouri's 529 College Savings Plan.
