Blogging, Tweeting, What am I Doing?

Posted on Mar 10, 2009 by

I started my blog last week and just created my twitter account (Chriskbeyond) today.  I know some are asking why?  Many say,  “I just don’t understand”.  My response is that these are new forms of communication to share the work of the Beyond Housing and its importance.  It is my hope to engage more people in a conversation about why what we do is important.  Why the people we serve simply want a chance for a better life.  Why we truly can be successful at alleviating the consequences of poverty.

There is no magic pill to make the work of producing affordable housing, preventing foreclosures, providing services for families easy and simple.   But, if in some small way, using a blog and a twitter account can expand the universe of those who know and support our efforts, then count me in.  I am in no way tech-savvy nor do I run in a circle of really tech-savvy folks; but, I do know lots and lots of people utilize blogs and twitter accounts.  I am willing to bet most of them don’t know about Beyond Housing or the field we are in.

I am ever willing to try new things to help more families. So, I dive in head first into the seemingly strange world of blogging and tweeting (is that how it is spelled?)   I hope I can both share and learn in the new world.
